Welcome to the Parent Introduction to Remote Learning Course!

We are glad you are here! This self-paced Canvas course has been created for parents and guardians of Johnson City School students and provides general instructions for supporting students learning at home. It is our hope that this class will provide you with information to make remote learning a successful experience for your family.

Whether your child is participating as a registered remote student for 9 or 18 weeks or as a student working remotely during a school closure, understanding the different learning platforms will be important for you as parents. Before beginning this course, please read the JCS Remote Learning Guide for Parents and Students. This guide reviews information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations and special services. Your child's teachers will be the primary source of more specific information covered in the manual.

Depending on the grade level, students may be using one of three Learning Management Systems (LMS): SeeSaw, Google Classroom, or Canvas. While the majority of our students will be using Canvas, teachers in grades K-2 will communicate with families as to which platform they may use. Additionally, some students in grades 9-12 may be completing self-paced coursework in a platform called Edmentum Courseware. If your child is using Edmentum, Science Hill High School will provide specific information for those classes.
